about your pub & grub
The spot where Charlie’s is located has been serving the south side neighborhood of Terre Haute since the early 30’s. Whether as a grocery store as it first started or as today’s Pub & Grub, it has been a tradition in supporting the area. In 1972, when Morris & Betty Tweety sold the tavern to Charlie Crispin, Charlie started serving the “Tweety Burger” to honor Morris; the tradition continues today. For 20 years, Charlie and Lois ran Charlie’s Hide-a-way until they sold it to Kevin and Gail O’Laughlin in 1992. To honor Charlie, the name stayed the same--but we are no longer hiding. Improvements to the location have secured the business and the tradition to last for another generation. We are proud of our neighborhood location and will try to stay true to what we are and what we offer--your neighborhood pub & grub.
Charlie's gives back
One shoe at a time.
Charlie's donated to the Terre Haute Women's Club in conjunction with their 2008 Shoe Bus project. THWC has been collecting money to purchase shoes for students in financial need around the city since 1972, and Charlie's is proud to have been involved with such a great project.
